Michael Porter, chair of the Workshop, is the Bishop William Lawrence University Professor based at Harvard Business School and a leading authority on competitive and corporate strategy. Professor Porter is author of Competitive Strategy, Competitive Advantage, The Competitive Advantage of Nations, On Competition, and numerous other books and articles.

 
He is a strategic advisor to U.S. and international corporations and a director of Parametric Technology Corporation, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and a supervisor of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

William W. George, Professor of Management Practice

William W. George, Professor of Management Practice, teaches leadership and leadership development. He is the former Chairman and CEO of Medtronic and author of True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership and Authentic Leadership: Rediscovering the Secrets to Creating Lasting Value. He serves on the board of directors of Exxon, Goldman Sachs, and Novartis and is chair of the Global Center for Leadership and Business Ethics.

Jay W. Lorsch, Louis Kirstein Professor of Human Relations

Jay W. Lorsch is the Louis Kirstein Professor of Human Relations and Chairman of the Executive Education Program “Making Corporate Boards More Effective.” He is a leading expert on corporate governance and boards of directors. He is the author of over a dozen books, the most recent of which are Back to the Drawing Board: Designing Boards for a Complex World (with Colin B. Carter, 2003) and editor of The Future of Boards (2013). He formerly served on the boards of Benckiser (now Reckitt Benckiser), Blasland Bouck & Lee Inc., Brunswick Corporation, Sandy Corporation and CA, Inc.; he also served on the Advisory Board of U.S. Foodservice.

Nitin Nohria, Dean of the Faculty

Nitin Nohria is the Dean of the Faculty and the Richard P. Chapman Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. His intellectual interests center on leadership and organizational change. His recent books include What Really Works: The 4+2 Formula for Sustained Business Success, Changing Fortunes: Remaking the Industrial Corporation; Driven: How Human Nature Shapes our Choices; and The Arc of Ambition: Defining the Leadership Journey. An advisor to small and large companies, he serves on the board of PPGL, a company created to privately develop the first special economic zone in India.
